The role of the Urology Nurse Specialists and Urology Nurses is to provide support and counselling to patients undergoing urology investigations and/or surgery.The Urology Nurses are trained nurses with many years of experience in different nursing areas. Each nurse is specialised in urological disease, uro-oncology and surgery.
Our nursing team always chooses for a motivated and professional dedication to help the patient as best as possible!
Together with other internal hospital services we chose for an integrated quality service.
The service includes:
giving time to talk, pre-operative care, post-operative care, discussing treatment and side effects, counselling, support main urology clinic, teaching, research, meetings with multi-disciplinary groups, giving out information and brochures, support groups.

The Prostate Cancer Clinic
This clinic is primarily aimed at patients with newly diagnosed prostate cancer; it compliments the TRUS - guided prostate biopsy sessions. Patients with established and well-controlled cancer are also reviewed and monitored. The emphasis is on counselling and support for the patient and his family.
The aims of the service are:
- To counsel patients with a new diagnosis of prostate cancer and provide information on treatment options
- To provide information and support to patients and their families
- To support patients undergoing radical surgery for prostate cancer
- To monitor patients' response to treatment
